The University of Girona (UdG) is one of the main economic and cultural drivers of the Catalan province of Girona and is devoted to excellence in teaching and research. It contributes to pogress and development of society through the creation, transmission, dissemination and criticism of knowledge related to science, technology, humanities, social sciences and arts. It has approximately 15,000 students and 2,000 academics and administrative staff. 

Research at UdG is carried out in more than 100 research groups associated to 22 departments and 12 research institutes. The Institute of Educational Research groups more than 100 researchers and twelve research groups of the Faculty of Education and Psychology of the UdG. The NANOL project is coordinated by the research group on science and environmental education (GRECA) which since its foundation in the early 1990´s has been devoted to research in environmental education and outdoor learning. 

Raquel Heras is the coordinator of the project, Ingrid Mulà is the project manager, Joan Vila (PhD candidate) and Rosa M. Medir are collaborators.
