GR MAR attended the MedRecover anual meeting
We were more than 20 marine scientist gathered to share our latest advances and to discuss about future collaborative projects and joint efforts.

New paper in SciRep: insights in oocyte dynamics shed light on the complexities associated with fish reproductive strategies
In our new paper published in Scientific Reports we give insights in oocyte dynamics that shed light on the complexities associated with fish reproductive strategies. Our results suggest that an species previously considered indeterminate, perform a low-cost predefinition; and that the potential fecundity estimation should be complemented with primary oocyte dynamics.
What's going on with the sardine in the NW Mediterranean Sea?
Researchers from GRMAR_UdG and LIG_UdG from the University of Girona start a study relating the condition, reproduction, parasitism and genètics of sardine, with the aim to understand the decline of its captures.
Alba Serrat presenting her talk
GR MAR attended the ICES ASC 2019
Alba Serrat Llinàs, a member of GR MAR attended the 2019 Annual Scientific Conference of the International Council for the Exploration of the Seas held in Gothenburg (Sweden)

Call for a PhD candidate in the frame of the new project #ConSarVar
We are seeking a PhD candidate of biology or similar, interested in working with small pelagic fish.
#ConSarVar is a new projecte on the genomics and condition of sardines from the Mediterranean and its implications for fisheries managment, lead by Jordi Viñas and Marta Muñoz ( from the Universitat de Girona).
Realtionships between parasitism an life-history traits
New paper out on the effects of parasitism on the reproduction and condition of a marine fish (Blue whiting)
High intensities of parasitic nematodes such as Anisakis sp. may compromise marine fish reproduction and condition through the energetic cost of the immune response
