We are very pleased to invite you to Girona for the VI Congress of the Spanish-Portuguese Association of Resource and Environmental Economics (AERNA) in collaboration with the Spanish Association for Energy Economics (AEEE) that will take place from September 4th to September 6th, 2014.
The conference program will cover all areas of environmental and resource economics, ranging from topics prevailing in the general debate, such as climate change, energy sources, water management and ecosystem services evaluation, to more specialized subjects such as biodiversity conservation or persistent organic pollutants. The congress will be held on the Faculty of Economics of the University of Girona, located in Montilivi, a city quarter situated just few minutes from the city center, conveniently connected by bus lines L8 and L11.
Girona is a small city situated in a privileged place in the margin of the rivers Ter and Onyar, less than one hour from Barcelona and half an hour from France. With a population of about one hundred thousand inhabitants, it still retains the quality of life that has been lost in other major cities. It has an intense administrative and university center, and is focus of attraction of commerce and culture. Founded by the Romans, it is one of the oldest towns in Catalonia, with more than two thousand years of history. Its unique old quarter is a continuous treasure of temples, towers, houses, palaces and walls, containing also one of the best preserved medieval Jewish quarters in Europe.
Moreover, gourmets will find many good restaurants in the province of Girona, including various two and three star restaurants – one of them is the number one restaurant Can Roca. Other people may conform themselves by visiting the Ice-Cream shop that is run by the Can Roca brothers in the center of the city – in contrast to the restaurant no reservation required.
We hope that the conference program and the location will make the VI AERNA Congress an event that no one wants to miss out on. We are looking forward to meeting you in Girona,
