Currículum abreujat

Dr. Sílvia Osuna (b. 1983, Castelló d’Empúries) is currently a Ramón y Cajal researcher at the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis (IQCC) at the University of Girona. Dr. Osuna obtained her PhD with academic honours in 2010 at the University of Girona (Spain) under the supervision of Prof. Miquel Solà and Prof. Marcel Swart. She received the PhD thesis award for the best thesis defended in 2010 at the Chemistry department of the University of Girona. Upon graduation, she moved to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA, USA) for a two-year postdoctoral position with the Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellowship (IOF) at the group of Prof. K. N. Houk. In 2013, she was awarded the Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral position, and in 2015 the highly competitive Ramón y Cajal position. Recently, she has been recently awarded an ERC-StG project for developing a new computational protocol for designing new enzymes (ERC-2015-StG-679001, NetMoDEzyme).  Thanks to the ERC contribution, she is starting to create her own research group at the IQCC, composed of two PhD students, two master students and two undergraduate students.

During her scientific career, she has worked on the computational design of enzymes important for their potential applications in medicine. She has participated in 7 research projects, been invited to give several seminars, and has participated in more than 40 conferences, in 3 of which as an invited speaker. Dr. Osuna is author of 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals (among them, Nature Chem. Biol.Angew. Chem. Int. ed.ACS Nano, J. Am. Chem. Soc. and Chem. Eur. J.). Her publications accumulate more than 860 citations, providing an H index of 19. She is collaborating with many groups located in the US and in Europe, being the most relevant ones for the development of this project: Prof. K. N. Houk (UCLA, USA).
