The School of Doctoral Studies (ED) of the University of Girona (UdG), which was established by the Governing Council of the UdG on 27 September 2010 (eBOU-38), is a unit of the University of Girona whose main goal is to organize the doctoral studies in the UdG. It gathers all agents involved in the activity of R + D + I of the UdG (research groups, departments, research institutes and university research centers or other participants) and external research centers (Catalan research institutes, hospitals ...). Its running policies emanate from the strategic plan of the university, especially in the areas of training and attracting talent, the search for excellence in research activities, and internationalization.

The main mission of the ED is to set up an organizational
academic and administrative model around doctoral studies to guarantee the quality of the academic offer, management efficiency, and to encourage excellence in research and interuniversity collaboration with external national and international research centers in order to consolidate the UdG as a reference University in the training of researchers.
