  2. THE SKELETAL SYSTEM: BONE TISSUE. Composition of the skeletal system. Functions of the skeletal system. Macroscopic and microscopic classification of the bone tissue. Bone formation: types and characteristics. Calcium and osseous metabolism. Joints and articulations.

Qualificació

Passing ALL evaluations (oral presentation, lab practicals and final exam) is mandatory for the final qualification.
A minimum of 4.75 points out of 10 is required in each evaluation, in order to calculate the mean qualification of the whole course. Otherwise, the grade will be that of the lowest scored evaluation.

COUSE QUALIFICATION: 60% final exam + 20% partial exam + 10% oral presentation + 10% lab practicals test
(Only if: a minimum of 4.75 points out of 10 are scored in each part)

The COURSE QUALIFICATION MUST BE A MINIMUM of 5 points out of 10 to pass the course.

Only for those students who fail the course (less than 5 points out of 10 as course qualification) will be eligible to take the BASIC COMPETENCES EXAM. In this exam, if passed (minimum of 5 points out of 10), the maximum grade given will be 5 points out of 10 AND will be the course qualification.

The objectives of the course are to:

1.Develop a vocabulary (appropriate terminology) and skills to effectively communicate information related to physiology.

2. Explain, relate and understand the physiological functions of body systems.

3. Develop knowledge and ability to predict physiological consequences.

4. Recognize and explain the interrelationships within and between anatomical and physiological systems of the human body.

5. Interpret graphs of physiological data.
